Spring Ridge Plastic Surgery is proud to offer Renuvion, the only FDA-approved treatment for skin tightening of the neck and body. Other popular skin tightening procedures such as SculpSure, truSculpt, and CoolSculpt are not as effective. The best minimally invasive procedure to achieve good skin tightening is Renuvion.
Renuvion consists of skin tightening, which renews the skin, and of fat removal, which contours the body. Fat removal is performed separately. Even if someone only wants to tighten their skin, they still need to get liposuction done—at least a small amount. With Renuvion, doctors address areas of loose skin by going beneath the surface of your skin after liposuction removes the fat.
AM I A CANDIDATE FOR RENUVION?
If you lost a significant amount of weight recently, you may not be eligible for a skin tightening procedure. If your skin lacks elasticity, laser skin tightening will not work. Renuvion also known as J-Plasma, is an FDA approved device for the tightening of skin following liposuction. It works best for normally overweight individuals who are looking to reduce fatty areas under their neck, arms, legs, and abdomen. Full anesthesia is not required for Renuvion as there is minimal cutting. Instead, the doctor will use local anesthetics such as lidocaine and patients will remain fully awake. You can expect a fast recovery and less pain compared to other skin tightening procedures. The procedure can also be performed under IV sedation.
Laser fat reduction treatments such as laser lipolysis or laser lipo known as SmartLipo use laser energy to reduce targeted areas of body fat (adipose tissue), an advanced approach to non-invasive fat removal and body sculpting. Non-invasive fat reduction is for a very select group of candidates. Dr. Schlechter during the consultation will guide you as to which procedure will be most effective for your situation. Skin tightening with Renuvion is superior to non-invasive procedures.
AM I A CANDIDATE FOR SCULPSURE®?
Because SculpSure® is non-invasive, it is an attractive fat-reducing laser treatment alternative to other minimally invasive liposuction procedures.
When Sculpsure was introduced, it was touted to be a one-time treatment. Over time it has been determined that multiple treatments typically are necessary even for ideal candidates which could be more costly than a minimally invasive liposuction procedure. In addition, the results for non-invasive procedures are not as predictable.
At Spring Ridge Plastic Surgery, we encourage all interested patients to come in for an in-person consultation with Dr. Schlechter as it is the best way for him to assess your situation. He can recommend a treatment plan that will produce optimal results. Patients like the fact that he will discuss all the options and recommend what treatment is best.
THE LIPOSUCTION PROCEDURE
Liposuction is a fat removal procedure that can be performed through tiny strategically placed incisions under local anesthesia or IV sedation. Fat can be removed from various areas such as the neck, arms, abdomen, arms and legs. Dr. Schlechter follows the guidelines of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons as to how much fat can be safely removed. The advantage of liposuction allows for absolute removal of fat and body contouring as opposed to non-invasive treatments that are less predictable. One session is required with liposuction compared to non-invasive procedures that will require multiple treatments. The non-invasive procedures are acceptable for patients who absolutely do not want a minimally invasive procedure. Dr. Schlechter has taken care of many patients who had non-invasive procures who are dissatisfied. Undergoing liposuction following these procedures is more difficult as the non-invasive procedures have created scar tissue in the fatty layer making the fat more difficult to remove.
RECOVERY FOR LIPOSUCTION
Following liposuction procedures, the majority of patients have little to no discomfort. Some patients find the procedure to be sore like a hard workout. Many patients, depending on their job, are back to work within a day or within a few days. Patients can resume working out at 2 weeks. Subtle swelling typically persists for a month or two and by 6-8 months the final result will be evident. When Renuvion is combined with the procedure it will take a few months for the skin to improve and the skin has matured by 6 months.

FAQS
What is the difference between Sculpsure and Coolsculpting?
Coolsculpting breaks down the fat by freezing the tissues. Sculpure uses a 1064nm laser to heat the fat to break it down.
Both treatments can be unpredictable as to the final result. One potential issue with Coolsculpting is an entity known as paradoxical hyperplasia of the fat. This is an increase in the amount of fat due to the treatment. This is a well-known drawback aside from others.
