The desire to stay competitive in the workplace and look attractive in the dating world has led to an increasing number of men rejuvenating their faces and bodies with plastic surgery. As a board-certified plastic surgeon with over 28 years of experience and a true understanding of the male anatomy, Dr. Benjamin Schlechter offers a variety of plastic surgery procedures for men of all ages.
Facelift
Sun exposure, smoking, and gravity combined with the natural aging process can cause facial wrinkles and sagging skin. A facelift (rhytidectomy) can improve loose skin around the mouth and sagging skin in the midface. Incisions are made in the hairline that wrap around the ears and end in the crease behind the ears to adjust the underlying tissues and remove excess skin. Dr. Schlechter understands the concern men have with scarring, and he carefully places the incisions so they will be as inconspicuous as possible and fade nicely as they heal.
Eyelid Surgery
The eyes are the first area to display aging due to lax skin and displaced fat tissue particularly of the upper eyelids. Eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) can be performed on the upper eyelids, the lower eyelids, or both to eliminate the tired appearance that many men have and restore a youthful look to the eyes. Dr. Schlechter makes an incision along the fold of the upper eyelid and/or along the lower lash line to remove displaced fat and excess skin.
Neck Lift
The neck often suffers the same problems as the face (wrinkling and sagging skin), and men usually have thicker skin and more fat tissue in this area. Dr. Schlechter makes incisions under the chin or behind the ears to reposition the tissues, tighten the neck muscles, and remove excess skin. Dr. Schlechter’s PrecisionTx™ minimally invasive neck lift involves laser liposuction using local anesthetic to effectively address excess fat and loose skin and produce results similar to a traditional neck lift for the appropriate candidate.
Non-Surgical Facelift (Injectables)
For men who have more subtle signs of facial aging or who desire a less invasive form of treatment, injectables can be a very safe alternative. BOTOX® Cosmetic has proven to be very effective in diminishing the appearance of wrinkles in the upper face, such as on the forehead, between the brows (frown lines), and at the corners of the eyes (crow’s feet). Dr. Schlechter also offers a wide range of injectable fillers that eliminate wrinkles and hollows by adding volume to the cheeks and around the nose and mouth. Each treatment takes just a few minutes to complete and is performed by injecting the FDA-approved solution or gel directly beneath the skin through a fine needle.
Gynecomastia Surgery
Enlarged male breast tissue is associated with a condition called gynecomastia. Gynecomastia surgery (male breast reduction) can eliminate excess fat deposits and tissue in the breast area to provide a firmer and better-contoured chest. Dr. Schlechter inserts a cannula (thin, hollow tube) through tiny incisions and suctions out excess fat deposits. If necessary, Dr. Schlechter uses an excision technique to remove glandular breast tissue and excess skin.
Liposuction
Weight gain causes fat deposits to accumulate on numerous areas of the body, especially the abdomen, back, and thighs. As one of the most popular procedures in plastic surgery, liposuction permanently removes excess fat deposits and contours the body to a more attractive physique. Dr. Schlechter makes a series of tiny incisions in the targeted areas through which he inserts a cannula (thin, hollow tube). As Dr. Schechter gently moves the cannula back and forth, the fat deposits are separated from the surrounding tissue and permanently removed via a suctioning device. Dr. Schlechter has incorporated the use of laser energy to facilitate fat removal.
Tummy Tuck
Typically a result of post-bariatric surgery, weight loss or when healthy eating and exercise fail to produce a satisfying outcome, many men have abdominal wall laxity and excess skin in the lower stomach area. A tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) can effectively restore a flatter, more defined appearance to the abdomen. By utilizing an incision along the lower abdomen, Dr. Schlechter permanently removes excess skin and stubborn fat deposits and tightens the abdominal muscles.
