Going into this decision, I had so many questions and uncertainties. Not only in regards to whether or not I would be happy with the way I look after all was said and done, but if the outcome would really be worth going under the knife and the whole recovery process that followed. As someone who has always pushed my body to physical limits as a competitive athlete, I wanted to make absolutely sure it was the right move for me and that the surgery would not affect my ability to continue to do the things I love every day. I have had two procedures done by Dr. Schlechter, and I am very pleased. I had some minor liposuction on my chin and most recently he did a revision on a botched rhinoplasty that I had done several years ago by another plastic surgeon. I went to see Dr. Schlechter for a rhinoplasty during the Summer of 2012. Since it was a big step for me, I was apprehensive at first. After visiting with multiple plastic surgeons, I am so happy that I decided to schedule the surgery with Dr. Schlechter. He has a great reputation in the community and every single person in his office is so friendly and professional. Everyone took the time to answer my questions and address all of my concerns. The day of surgery can be nerve-wracking, but thanks to Dr. Schlechter and his staff, they made it a positive experience. Everyone made me feel like family; even the anesthesiologist took time beforehand to explain everything in detail which for me, made all the difference in the world. He was very kind and professional. Even the surgery suite is designed to make the patient feel comfortable. The best part was I had no side-effects following surgery, which made recovery even better. Even now, long after the surgery, Dr. Schlechter and his staff are still concerned for my well-being and always take their time with me whether it is over the phone or in person. I cannot thank them enough for how they are, and I absolutely recommend them if you are considering surgery. Last, but not least, I am thrilled with the results! I look so natural – like I never even had surgery on my nose. I am much more confident and comfortable out in the world. You cannot put a price on confidence. I understand that each rhinoplasty is unique, and everyone is different, but the recovery time wasn’t bad at all. The only discomfort I experienced was the first few days before the packing came out. There was pain, but it wasn’t unbearable. Personally, I found braces on my teeth to be a much worse experience. The swelling wasn’t bad either, and it continues to subside, six weeks after my surgery. Again, depending on the individual, it can take up to eight months to see the final results. I cannot thank Dr. Schlechter and his team enough for the professionalism and compassion I experienced! They certainly are a perfect “10.” – JM
